VAT information
VAT (short for Value Added Tax) is a sales tax, which, we must add on to all prices if the customer is in the UK or in the European Union.
So, customers outside the E.U. do not pay any sales tax (you may still have to pay an import duty in your own country)
For customers outside the UK but within the E.U. who are registered for VAT (ie companies) we do not have to charge VAT if you can provide us with your VAT number. Therefore if you are in the EU and not VAT registered we must charge VAT at the current rate.
For example, if you are in France and not VAT registered and you want a machine costing £1000, we must charge 17.5% VAT which adds £175, if however you are outside the EU in Gibraltar, we do not add VAT regardless of your status (company or private), but you may still be liable for import duty. Therefore in France the machine would cost you £1175 and £1000 in Gibraltar.
